This shirt is inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe’s American Flag (1977).The image of the American flag—an emblem of pride and perfection—worn, torn, and falling apart has been interpreted as a reflection of the divisions in American society at the time, and of the gap between the nation’s ideals and its harsh realities.For this season, titled ARRIVALS, the shirt represents openness—the willingness to accept others and embrace differences.
